Description: At 1043 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the
advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Richmond, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Chester, Virginia
Commonwealth University, Downtown Richmond, Highland Springs,
Virginia Union University, Fort Lee, Mechanicsville, Bellwood,
Bensley, Chesterfield Court House, East Highland Park, Lakeside,
Chesterfield, Richmond Heights, Varina, Drewrys Bluff and

Additional rainfall of 0.5 to 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
Instruction: A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
