* Until 1100 PM EDT

* At 853 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Rainfall estimates from doppler radar were
averaging around 1.5 inches since 8 pm. Overflowing poor drainage
areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Mannboro, Talleysville, Roxbury,
Chester, Bellwood, Bottoms Bridge, Chesterfield Court House,
Chesterfield, Wayside, Ammon, Elko, Glendale, Pocahontas State
Park, Beach, Meadowville, Barnetts, Wrights Corner and Quinton.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Instruction: Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
